When the time comes to go for an interview for your dream job, apart from the thinking about what you are going to say and making sure that you have all your documents you must also spend some time planning what you are going to wear at the interview. Even though your credentials are more important that the way you look, your attire is the first thing the interviewer is going to see.

For women the important thing is to dress in clothes which are not revealing. Women should avoid being heavily made up. A little bit of makeup and perfume is alright. A business suite with slacks or a sufficiently long skirt should do the trick. Basically, the attire and the accessories a woman wears should be toned down. Bright colors are not a very good idea as the professional world identifies better with neutral solid colors.

As far as men are concerned, there is little scope for making a mistake when it comes to attire. Men can wear their business suites again in toned down colors. Body piercings and funky hairstyles should be completely avoided. Hair should be neatly combed and body piercings should be removed.

Basically both men and women should dress professionally. What you like to do in your personal life should come with you to your workplace. Chewing gum is offensive and so is a cell phone that is constantly ringing. Make sure to keep these tips in mind before you walk in for an interview. These tips may not guarantee that you will get the job but at the very least they will help you with your first impression.
