Don’t Forget the Want Ads As an Employment Source

The local daily newspaper is still your best employment source guide. Each want ad looking for workers in various fields is taken out for a week, two weeks, or longer. The daily want ads are probably more fruitful in actually finding a job than the Sunday want ads. Some employers only advertise on weekdays and some only on Sundays. Your best bet in finding employment is to look through the local want ads of your town’s newspaper on both Sundays and weekdays.

Some other newspaper type employment sources are the free papers that one can pick up in such locations as outside of supermarkets or wherever free real estate brochures can be found. Looking through want ads is the cheapest and least aggravating way of finding employment. The want ad will give you a place and a number or where you can mail your resume to without having to go through the personal history receptionist of a placement service.

Trying to find work is problematical because you want to find a job but you don’t want to have to pay for it unless you have no other choice. The daily newspapers and the free bulletins are excellent employment source options that could probably land you a job before you could get one from going through placement agencies interviews and screenings.

With a want ad, your future employer can screen you for actual employment. There is no better way to get hired than to talk directly with the company that is going to employ you. In some cases, placement services don’t send your name and credentials unless their regular clients are first employed. With want ads, you can send your own credentials through a resume to the company that is hiring without taking a place in a queue.

As well as daily newspapers and free local town news sources, another great employment source are popular magazines that have want ads along with other advertisements. These magazines have want ads that are looking for qualified people and are at salaries that make them inviting to respond to and since magazine want ads are expected to be on the shelf for as long as the magazine, they are in no hurry to fill their positions.
